The Fruits of our Garden

POSTED BY: ANDREW
Well this year we planted a potted garden again. We learned a few things from last year. We didn't get any pictures of preparing the garden but we've got a few pictures now and we have more than a few tomatoes on the way. Now that summer is here in Texas we have fruit on the way with our plants. We planted two tomato plants, squash, zucchini, beans, and peppers.

Here are a few pictures of the garden after they first came up. Squash, Beans, and the first tomato flowers.
Here is a picture of our garden as of a week or so ago. They are lots bigger now.The Zucchini that never came up. Unfortunately we didn't know that it was zucchini that didn't some up and planted more squash in it's place. I guess that we'll have lots of squash.tomatoes and beans
`

Yummy first homegrown tomatoes of the season. When I took this picture I counted 16 tomatoes on both plants it's now probably more like 25 or 30.
Our squash is starting to grow So are the Beans
My pepper plant didn't come up, so I had to buy a replacement. It's not doing too well either.
The tomato plants smell so good I can't wait to taste my homegrown tomatoes. There is nothing quite like a garden fresh tomato that has fully ripened on the plant.

Twenty-One AGAIN!!!

Another Birthday come and gone. I can't help thinking how much younger twenty-seven is now than it was ten years ago. Andrew has been really stressed out with school the last little while. The semester is practically over, Thank Goodness! We had a Party with some of our friends on his birthday. I had to coax him to let the books rest while we ate German Chocolate Cake and Vanilla Ice-cream. We had fun playing a few games while all the kids played outside in the back yard. It is started to get a little uncomfortably hot now. The evenings are usually not to bad, just humid. We are really getting a good collection of outside toys from Garage Sales, Tiffany's new passion.

Animal Extravaganza

Texas A&M's Veterinary Clinic was having an open house celebration with all kinds of tours, displays and animal exhibits. We thought it sounded like fun. There was far more to do than we had time for. We did not get to see the biggest horse in the world or go to the Petting Zoo or the Teddy Bear Surgery Unit. We did see some dog shows and the miniature horses and the exotic animal exhibit where we got to hold a turtle, pet snakes, ducklings, bunnies, guinea pigs, ferrets, and we saw several other fun animals.
Of Course, we had to get our picture take with the hippos
and the Tall Giraffe
Corbin was sure this Australian Shepherd must be G-ma Dina's dog, Bindy The Great Dane was taller than he was but Corbin wasn't scared a bit.
Nice little puppy. Can you tell he really likes dogs?
This poodle was as big as the miniature horses
Some Giant Lizard thingMaggie, the Talking ParrotCorbin loved it all which helped make up for the forty minute wait to get inside. We also toured the large animal hospital where they do surgery on all kinds of cattle, wild animals such as bears and even some zoo animals like giraffes. They had huge doors into all the rooms so the animals could go from room to room. It was really interesting to see how they can turn a cow, fully awake, completely upside down if the need to for any type of procedure.
