I think it is important to note that this year was also the VERY FIRST YEAR that our kids have every celebrated THANKSGIVING with family. I think Thanksgiving was always the hardest time of year for me while we were living away from family. Growing up Thanksgiving meant family. We would get together with all the cousins and have a huge feast. It was the time we saw family that we didn't usually see. Now that we are all grown our extended family is just way to big to get all of my cousins together for anything other than a reunion. It was nice to let my kids have their first experience of being with all their cousins for Thanksgiving. (sorry I still did not get a really great picture to remember this event by, but here is what I did get of this Holiday.)
This is my Grandma Smith who lives with my parents. She now has dementia and doesn't remember me, but I hope my boys will be able to have a few memories of her.
New Years Eve
My Uncle Don invited us to celebrate New Years with their family this year. The kids (and dad's) had fun outside sledding and being pulled behind the Rhino. I think I got Freezer Burn...IT was COLD!!!
We had a really nice dinner with everyone and then we played several games. I put Carter to bed, but I thought I would let Corbin stay up to welcome the New Year. All the other kids were staying up. Man that was a Long Night. We (the Parents) were all exhausted trying to entertain all the tired kids all night. I thought midnight might not come that night. But it did and we all shouted "HAPPY NEW YEAR" and we were packed up and driving home before 12:15am. The fireworks we had were postponed because it was soo cold and we were all tired.
I hope everyone is enjoying the New Year! (Now that January is already officially over)
